Owen Roizman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.   Owen Roizman, A.S.C. (September 22, 1936 – January 6, 2023) was a cinematographer and a member of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, as well as the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC). He received five Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography, for the films The French Connection (1971), The Exorcist (1973), Network (1976), Tootsie (1982), and Wyatt Earp (1994). Roizman was known for collaborating with film directors William Friedkin, Sydney Pollack and Lawrence Kasdan. Wera Engels

Biography

Wera Engels was a daughter of a German Admiral and Governor of the then German colony Tsing-tau-China. After successful leading roles in productions of the well-established German UFA-studios in Babelsberg as well as in France, Engels was invited to Hollywood. Producers saw her as a cheap alternative to Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich. She was contracted with RKO. Engels was given roles under Walter Futter and M.H. Hoffman. She and the silent movie super star Mary Pickford became best friends. By 1935 she returned to Germany, but left soon thereafter, because of the decline of the German movie industry caused by the Nazi propaganda machine. Back in Hollywood, she dated Gary Cooper for a while but married the Lithuanian-born actor/writer Ivan Lebedeff. After Lebedeff's death in 1953 of Angina pectoris, she moved back to Europe, where she stayed with several friends in London and Stockholm before she went back to Germany. She lived the rest of her life with Erna Hoffmann (widow of Heinrich Hoffmann, Hitler's friend and personal photographer) in the Munich area. She died on November 16, 1988 (age 79) in Munich, Germany.

In 1959 she graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School in Moscow, from 1959 to 1961 she was an actress at the Sovremennik Theater and the Theater of the Soviet Army, from 1961 to 1993 - at the Theater Studio of a film actor. Isabelle Corey (29 May 1939 – 6 February 2011) was a French actress and model. Corey started modeling in Paris in her teens for magazines such as Jardin des Modes, Elle and Madame Figaro. She was discovered in the Latin Quarter, where she lived with her parents, by Jean Pierre Melville and was offered the lead in his classic film noir, Bob le flambeur. Following parts in such films as And God Created Woman, she continued her film career in Italy where she settled in Rome, to work with such producers, directors and actors as Mauro Bolognini, Vittorio De Sica, Marcello Mastroianni, Alberto Sordi, Dino De Laurentiis and Roberto Rossellini. Tatiana Astengo (born June 7, 1967) is a Peruvian actress. She studied Communication Sciences at the University of San Martín de Porres and began her career as a dancer and singer in the 1980s. She made her film debut in Captain Pantoja and the Special Services (1999), a role that catapulted her to fame. She has appeared in various television series in Peru and Spain, including Al fondo hay sitio (2011-2016) and De vuelta al barrio (2018-2019). Jack Brady was an English actor born in Leamington Spa. At the age of 15 he discovered Shakespeare and never looked back as acting became his constant driving force. In his second year at drama school Jack became the first non London based drama student to win the Laurence Olivier Bursary Award. Trel Sha'Vega, born Trevor Rigby, is an American film director, writer, and conductor from Mission Viejo, California. Attending both the University of Central Florida and University of South Florida, he holds a bachelor's degree in music and master's in conducting. After performing with and later instructing the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps from Concord, California, he would go on to direct numerous theatrical musicals, including the 2010 winner of Best National Musical at the Orlando Fringe Festival, "Inertia - The Musical." In 2015, he returned to California, where, upon a suggestion from a former classmate now performing in the LA Phil, he created his own ensemble, and thus, the Hollywood Light Orchestra was formed. An EDM based music act that fused live strings, brass, and vocals with the world of electronic dance and hip-hop. After appearing on America's Got Talent, culminating with performances in Las Vegas at Caesar's Palace, Trel got the itch to try something "more personal", and began screenwriting. With his first project underway, the 2020 pandemic brought everything to a halt. Not wanting to sit idly by, he decided to make use of his experiences and wrote the story that would become his first feature, "Morgan's Mask."

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 - October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer who won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. On October 31, 2020, it was announced that Connery had died at the age of 90.
