The film is set in the 1930s during the Great Depression in the United States. Dreamland could have been a gripping gangster action movie, but the director had different goals. We are faced with an eerie picture of a total financial collapse that has turned a prosperous country into a scorched desert. Dreamland is a sensual interweaving of two destinies, which in one way or another, felt the taste of their own dreamland. After all, this is the story of first love and sudden growing up against the backdrop of one of the darkest pages of American history.
