Manolis Glezos

Biography

Manolis Glezos (Greek: Μανώλης Γλέζος; 9 September 1922 – 30 March 2020) was a Greek left-wing politician, journalist, author, and folk hero, best known for his participation in the World War II resistance. In Greece, he is best remembered for taking down the Flag of Nazi Germany from the Acropolis during the Axis occupation of Greece, along with Lakis Santas. After the end of the Occupation, his left-wing political beliefs and activism led to him being sentenced to death thrice; his imprisonments and legal troubles were often the topic of international interest, until his permanent release in 1971. Since the restoration of democracy in 1974, he had been active as a politician, becoming a Member of the Greek Parliament for various left-wing parties over the years. In 2014, at the age of 91, he became a Member of the European Parliament for a second time in his life, for Syriza, making him the oldest-ever member of the European Parliament. He was also the most voted-for candidate in Greece. Glezos was an award-winning journalist, and worked as head-editor and editor for the left-wing newspapers Rizospastis and I Avgi, which are popular to this day; he also published six books.

Mahmoud Abdel Aziz was born in Alexandria, Egypt to a middle class family. He studied Agricultural Sciences and during his college days he practiced acting through the university theatre. He started his acting career by taking a role in "Al Dawama" TV show in the mid 70s with Nelly and Mahmoud Yassin after which he entered the cinema world for the first time through "Al Hafeed" an all time Egyptian film classic. Karina Bhojwani

Biography

Karina is a film editor from Hong Kong. From short drama and drama comedy films, to music videos and trailers, she’s able to adapt her editing style to each project she works on. She is a final year student on the Film Production course at Anglia Ruskin University. Karina aims to further develop her skills as an editor, hoping to pursue Fiction Editing after university. Outside of university, Karina is heavily involved with film festivals around Cambridge. Not only was she working closely to help bring the Cambridge Film Festival to life this year, but she is also the Head of Video Production at Watersprite Film Festival, the largest student film festival in the world. She has also been the editor for commissioned projects with the Imperial War Museum as well as worked as a videographer/editor for a multitude of brands back home and in the UK. Abdul Latief known as Adul is an Indonesian actor, comedian, voice actor and presenter. Adul first appeared on television when he got small roles in the musical sinetron 'Ratu Malu and Jendral Kancil'. After that, he was trusted to be a model for the music video for the music group Sheila On 7 entitled 'Pemuja Rahasia' together with actress Jessica Mila in 2004. His name became known to the public when he starred in the comedy program Ramadhan 'Saatnya Kita Sahur' which aired on Trans TV with comedians Komeng and Olga Syahputra. In 2011 when boy bands and girl groups were on the rise, Adul together with Andre Taulany, Sule, Nunung, Parto, Azis Gagap, and Opie Kumis made a parody of a boy band with the name SM#SH (which parodied SM*SH) through the song 'Cenat Cenut', which is a parody of SM*SH's song I Heart You. After that, Adul and his group changed their group name back to 7ikans (parodying 7icons) and released the recycled single Andeca Andeci by Oslan Husein and Warkop DKI.

Milton Johns

Biography

Milton Johns (born 13 May 1938) is an English actor whose thin features and talent for obsequious or oily characters has often influenced the many television parts he has received. He trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Johns was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire. He was in Coronation Street as Brendan Scott (1991–93), the shopkeeper who died of a heart attack while pedalling along the eponymous cobbled street. Other roles have included parts in Poldark, Born and Bred, Ever Decreasing Circles, Home to Roost, Dempsey and Makepeace, Murder Most English, Shoestring, Yes Minister, Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em, Softly, Softly, Going Straight, The Good Life, Don't Wait Up, Butterflies, Campion and Z-Cars. He played the landlord in The Basil Brush Show (2002–07). Johns also played jobsworth Mr Cassidy in Murphy's Mob, an ITV children's television drama series (1982–85). His character helped to manage the building used by the junior supporters' of the football club, Dunmore United. Johns has appeared in Doctor Who on several occasions: as Theodore Benik in The Enemy of the World; Guy Crayford in The Android Invasion; and Castellan Kelner in The Invasion of Time. In 1972 he starred in the children's Sunday evening series The Intruder and in 1977, appeared in another children's series, Midnight Is A Place. Johns also appeared as an Imperial Officer (Captain Bewil) in the 1980 Star Wars sequel, The Empire Strikes Back. He played Perker in the 1985 adaptation of The Pickwick Papers. In the 1986 television series War and Remembrance, Johns took the role of the senior Nazi SS officer Adolf Eichmann.

Jorge Porcel

Biography

Porcel worked in 49 movies, starting with 1962's Disloque en Mar del Plata, and ending with Carlito's Way (1993). Many of these 49 movies were collaborations with Olmedo. Among the movies they did together was 1986's Rambito y Rambón: Primera Misión. (Little Rambo and Big Rambo: First Mission) Many of Porcel and Olmedo's movies in the 1970s and 1980s were adult-oriented comedies. Conservative Argentine authorities rated these movies as PM-18 (age 18 and above), except for some movies planned for family audiences, which had "tamer" content. These movies are considered to be the pinnacle of Argentina's sexy comedy movie genre. Most of these movies were directed by Gerardo Sofovich or his brother Hugo. Porcel virtually stopped appearing in these movies after the accidental death of Olmedo, which left him clinically depressed.

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 - October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer who won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. On October 31, 2020, it was announced that Connery had died at the age of 90.
