Sean Connery

Biography

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer. He won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. On October 31, 2020, Connery died at the age of 90.

Jawad Sharif

Biography

Jawad Sharif is an award-winning filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer based in Pakistan. His work explores themes of social change and human rights, focusing on reviving the suppressed cultural and indigenous identities of Pakistan. Throughout his career, Jawad has pushed the boundaries of visual storytelling by documenting the rights of folk musicians, high-altitude porters, climate migrants, and marginalized communities. In 2016, Jawad was awarded a scholarship at the UCLA School of Theatre, Film, and Television. He is also an alumnus of the Swedish Institute and Institut Fur Auslandsbeziehunge, Germany. His work has garnered international and national recognition, including his selection as a TED Fellow and Speaker in 2022 for his achievements in filmmaking and the potential impact of his work. Jawad's films are deeply rooted in local culture and highlight the diverse and resilient aspects of Pakistani society. His recent film "The Losing Side" won the Best Human Rights Film award at the Cannes World Film Festival. "Indus Blues" has received numerous international awards and nominations at prestigious film festivals. His film "Natari" was part of the official selection of the Climate Crisis Film Festival 2021, held in conjunction with COP26 in Glasgow, UK. Jawad has also received several awards for "K2 & the Invisible Footmen," which has been showcased at film festivals worldwide. As a founder of multiple initiatives, Jawad employs filmmaking to inspire social change and climate justice. His project Climate Kahani addresses climate change conflicts through visual storytelling. At the same time, Cinema for Change, a non-profit initiative, empowers filmmakers to explore, educate, and advocate for social change through films. Jawad serves as the Festival Director of the Asia Peace Film Festival and is a jury member of the Jaipur Library Academy Awards in India. He is also an advisory board member of the Forum for Dignity Initiatives, a not-for-profit organization that protects the rights of sexual and gender minorities in Pakistan.

Kevin O'Connor

Biography

Kevin O’Connor is an American television personality who has hosted the long-running PBS home renovation series This Old House since 2003. Born in Maplewood, New Jersey, he grew up around construction, learning from his father, a civil engineer. After graduating from Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School, he earned a B.A. in history from the College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from Boston University. Before his television career, O’Connor worked in finance, holding senior positions at Fleet Bank and Bank of America. His television career began unexpectedly when a letter he and his wife sent to This Old House led the crew to his home for a house call on Ask This Old House. Impressed by his curiosity and enthusiasm, producers offered him the hosting job after Steve Thomas’s departure. O’Connor soon became the third host in the show’s history. As host of This Old House, Ask This Old House, and Inside This Old House, he is known for building his skills on the job with the show’s experts and tradespeople. He also serves on the editorial board of This Old House Magazine and authored “The Best Homes from This Old House.” Kevin O’Connor lives in Massachusetts with his wife and children and remains dedicated to sharing his love for home improvement and craftsmanship with viewers.

Leslie Megahey was a British television producer, director and writer. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the son of Thomas Megahey (a minister) and Beatrice (née Walton), Leslie Megahey was educated at King Edward VI School in Lichfield. Early works for the BBC included Canvas: 7: Sunflowers: Van Gogh (1971), and Omnibus File: Thrillers and Crime Fiction (1972). He was the editor of the BBC television documentary series Arena (1977–79; 1982–83); during his time on the series he divided it into Arena Theatre and Arena Art and Design, and Arena became less of a magazine-style programme and more a home for short, distinctive and stylish films about mainly British theatre and visual arts. During this period his programme Henry Moore Meets Leonardo (1978) was broadcast, in which the sculptor Henry Moore discussed Leonardo Da Vinci's anatomical drawings. Juliet Maryon Mills (born 21 November 1941) is an English actress. She is the sister of Hayley Mills, Juliet Mills began her career as a child actor. She was nominated for a Tony Award for her work in Five Finger Exercise in 1960. Allen Kelsey Grammer (born February 21, 1955) is an American actor, producer, and singer. He gained fame for his role as the psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane on the NBC sitcom Cheers (1984–1993) and its spin-off Frasier (1993–2004, and again from 2023 to 2024). With more than 20 years on air, this is one of the longest-running roles played by a single live-action actor in primetime television history. He has received numerous accolades, including a total of six Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Tony Award. Grammer, having trained as an actor at Juilliard and the Old Globe Theatre, made his professional acting debut as Lennox in the 1981 Broadway revival of Macbeth.
