Biography

Zana Zanoni (real name — Zinaida Nikolaevna Nikolaenko) was a Soviet actress of theater, cinema, and dubbing, as well as a dancer. She was born on November 5, 1910, in Yekaterinoslav (now Dnipro, Ukraine). In 1928, she graduated from the First State Choreographic Technical School, and in 1939, she completed her studies at the Theater Studio under the direction of N. P. Khmelyov. From 1925, she worked as an actress at the Lenfilm film studio. In 1939, she became an actress at the Moscow Theater named after M. N. Ermolova. Between 1943 and 1945, she was an actress at the Central Theater of Transport in Moscow, and later, she worked at the Film Actor Studio Theater. Starting in 1960, she was an actress at the Mosfilm studio (M. Gorky Film Studio).

Sean Connery

Biography

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer. He won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. On October 31, 2020, Connery died at the age of 90.

G. Gordon Liddy

Biography

George Gordon Battle Liddy (November 30, 1930 – March 30, 2021) was an American lawyer and FBI agent who was convicted of conspiracy, burglary, and illegal wiretapping for his role in the Watergate scandal during the Nixon administration. Working alongside E. Howard Hunt, Liddy organized and directed the burglary of the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate building in May and June 1972. After five of Liddy's operatives were arrested inside the DNC offices on June 17, 1972, subsequent investigations of the Watergate scandal led to Nixon's resignation in 1974. Liddy was convicted of burglary, conspiracy, and refusing to testify to the Senate committee investigating Watergate. He served nearly 52 months in federal prisons. He later joined with Timothy Leary for a series of debates on multiple college campuses, and similarly worked with Al Franken in the late 1990s. Liddy served as a radio talk show host from 1992 until his retirement on July 27, 2012. His radio show as of 2009 was syndicated in 160 markets by Radio America and on both Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio stations in the United States. He was a guest panelist for Fox News Channel in addition to appearing in a cameo role or as a guest celebrity talent on several television shows. Liddy was born in Brooklyn on November 30, 1930. His father, Sylvester James Liddy, was a lawyer; his mother was Maria (Abbaticchio). His family was of Irish and Italian descent. Liddy was named for George Gordon Battle, a noted attorney and Tammany Hall leader. He was raised in Hoboken and West Caldwell, New Jersey. He attended St. Benedict's Preparatory School, his father's alma mater, in Newark. Liddy was educated at Fordham University, graduating in 1952. While at Fordham he was a member of the National Society of Pershing Rifles. Following graduation, Liddy joined the United States Army, serving for two years as an artillery officer during the Korean War. He was assigned to an antiaircraft radar unit in Brooklyn for medical reasons. In 1954, he was admitted to the Fordham University School of Law, earning a position on the Fordham Law Review. After graduating in 1957, he worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under J. Edgar Hoover. Liddy began his career with the FBI in 1957, initially serving as a field agent in Indiana and Denver. While stationed in Denver, he made a significant arrest on September 10, 1960: Ernest Tait, a notable criminal who had twice appeared on the Ten Most Wanted. At age 29, Liddy became the youngest bureau supervisor at FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C.. Under the mentorship of deputy director Cartha DeLoach, Liddy secured a position on director J. Edgar Hoover's personal staff, even acting as Hoover's ghostwriter. An Egyptian actor, who was born in 1930. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Department of History, and began his artistic career at the end of the fifties through the radio, where he was presenting a segment of the memories of room 117 on Samia Sadiq's radio program "About the White Family". He worked as a director on television before he broke into cinema and television in the late seventies, where he participated in many works, including: El-Kitkat, The Magician, Bakhit & Adeela 2: Bucket & Pot, and Chaos, in addition to the series Zezenia, Where is My Heart, and The New Street. He passed away in late 2011 after suffering from illness.

Namo Narayana is an Indian film actor, who has worked in Tamil language films. He made a breakthrough as an actor with his performances in Naadodigal (2009) and Komban (2015). Namo Narayana was a software engineer before he chose to star in a supporting role in Samuthirakani's Naadodigal (2009). Jiří Trnka

Biography

A graduate of Prague's School of Arts and Crafts, in 1936 he created a puppet theater, which was disbanded after the outbreak of WWII. During the war he designed stage sets and illustrated children's books. In 1945 he set up an animation unit with several collaborators at the Prague film studio; they called the unit "Trick Brothers." Trnka specialized in puppet animation, a traditional Czech art form, of which he became the undisputed master. He also created animated cartoons, but it was his puppet animation that made him an internationally recognized artist and the winner of film festival awards at Venice and elsewhere. He wrote the scripts for most of his own films.

Alysa King is a Canadian-born actor, singer, and live performer. During her early childhood years she was featured in several nationwide commercials and magazines, and later returned to the industry once she had completed her post-secondary education. Upon completing high school she trained at Sheridan College and graduated their Theatre Arts program with honours. She then switched gears and continued on to Queen’s University in Kingston, where she received her Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Dramatic Arts and English Literature & Language, and a Bachelor of Education. Upon graduating, Alysa returned to film and television, and in 2014 she starred in the award-winning genre film "Berkshire County" directed by Audrey Cummings. Praised for her intense and compelling portrayal of Kylie Winters, her performance earned her two "Best Actress" awards from festivals world-wide and the film screened on 5 continents to rave reviews. It has a national theatrical run in Canada at Landmark Cinemas and was in the top 5 earning Canadian films for several weeks during its screening window. Most recently, Alysa was a recurring character on the hit TV series Slasher, a co-production of Shaftesbury Films and Super Channel starring Jurassic World’s Katie McGrath, which aired on NBC Universal's 'Chiller' channel in 2016 to excellent reviews and great ratings. Gary Martin

Martin's father was a singer, and his mother was an actor and extra. In 1975, he had acted in a few adverts by the end of school, but needed to get a proper job. He got a cabaret act together and started performing on a cruise ship at 17. In 1976, he made his debut in the West End theatre with Jesus Christ Superstar at 18 after a period of training at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He later moved on to other theatre roles in the West End, such as Rocky Horror in The Rocky Horror Show in 1979, the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors in 1983, which he described as a "deep, black, Harlem voice"; Time in 1986, Munkustrap in Cats from 1987 to 1990, Miss Saigon in 1989, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1990, and Vince Fontaine in Grease in 1993. In 1980, he narrated a trailer for Saturn 3. Martin had been doing jingles and adverts, but started doing voice acting, including providing the voice of Sugar Puffs' mascot Honey Monster from the 1980s onwards. In the 1990s, he shifted to focus more on voice acting. Martin has provided voices for The Adventures of Mole, The Adventures of Toad, The Neverending Story III, FernGully 2: The Magical Rescue, Corpse Bride, Ultramarines: A Warhammer 40,000 Movie and Minions. He won a Talkie Award for his portrayal of Judge Dredd for BBC Radio 1. He has also recorded voiceovers for American and British commercials and film trailers.

Vandana Shiva

Biography

Vandana Shiva (born 5 November 1952) is an Indian scholar, environmental activist, food sovereignty advocate, ecofeminist and anti-globalisation author. Based in Delhi, Shiva has written more than 20 books. She is often referred to as "Gandhi of grain" for her activism associated with the anti-GMO movement. Shiva is one of the leaders and board members of the International Forum on Globalization (with Jerry Mander, Ralph Nader, and Helena Norberg-Hodge), and a figure of the anti-globalisation movement. She has argued in favour of many traditional practices, as in her interview in the book Vedic Ecology (by Ranchor Prime). She is a member of the scientific committee of the Fundacion IDEAS, Spain's Socialist Party's think tank. She is also a member of the International Organization for a Participatory Society. Vandana Shiva was born in Dehradun. Her father was a conservator of forests, and her mother was a farmer with a love for nature. She was educated at St. Mary's Convent High School in Nainital, and at the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Dehradun. Shiva studied physics at Punjab University in Chandigarh, graduating as a Bachelor of Science in 1972. After a brief stint at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, she moved to Canada to pursue a master's degree in the philosophy of science at the University of Guelph in 1977 where she wrote a thesis entitled "Changes in the concept of periodicity of light". In 1978, she completed and received her PhD in philosophy at the University of Western Ontario, focusing on philosophy of physics. Her dissertation was titled "Hidden variables and locality in quantum theory" in which she discussed the mathematical and philosophical implications of hidden variable theories that fall outside of the purview of Bell's theorem. She later went on to pursue interdisciplinary research in science, technology, and environmental policy at the Indian Institute of Science and the Indian Institute of Management in Bangalore. Vandana Shiva has written and spoken extensively about advances in the fields of agriculture and food. Intellectual property rights, biodiversity, biotechnology, bioethics, and genetic engineering are among the fields where Shiva has fought through activist campaigns. She has assisted grassroots organisations of the Green movement in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Ireland, Switzerland, and Austria with opposition to advances in agricultural development via genetic engineering. In 1982, she founded the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology. This led to the creation of Navdanya in 1991, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources, especially native seed, the promotion of organic farming and fair trade. Navdanya, which translates to "Nine Seeds" or "New Gift", is an initiative of the RFSTE to educate farmers of the benefits of maintaining diverse and individualised crops rather than accepting offers from monoculture food producers. The initiative established over 40 seed banks across India to provide regional opportunity for diverse agriculture.
