William A. Seiter

Biography

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia William A. Seiter (June 10, 1890 - July 26, 1964) was an American film director. He was born in New York City. After attending Hudson River Military Academy, Seiter broke into films in 1915 as a bit player at Mack Sennett's Keystone Studios, doubling a cowboy. He graduated to director in 1918. At Universal Studios in the mid-1920s, Seiter was principal director of the popular Reginald Denny vehicles, most of which co-starred Seiter's then wife Laura La Plante (his second wife was actress Marian Nixon). This period also included The Beautiful and Damned and The Family Secret. In the early talkie era, Seiter helped nurture the talents of RKO's comedy duo Wheeler & Woolsey in such rollicking features as Caught Plastered (1931) and Diplomaniacs (1933). He also directed the Laurel and Hardy feature Sons of the Desert (1933), their only film together. Other films include Sunny, Going Wild, Kiss Me Again, Hot Saturday, Way Back Home, Girl Crazy, Rafter Romance, Roberta, Room Service, Susannah of the Mounties, Allegheny Uprising, You Were Never Lovelier, Up in Central Park, and One Touch of Venus. Among the many stars directed by Seiter during his long career were Shirley Temple, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Henry Fonda, Margaret Sullavan, Jack Haley, Deanna Durbin, Jean Arthur, John Wayne, Fred MacMurray, Lucille Ball, Rita Hayworth and the Marx Brothers. While many of his films were minor gems, Seiter was capable of turning out bad movies once in a while. For example, if he ran into friction from his star—as was the case with Lou Costello in 1946's Little Giant -- Seiter would get even by adhering religiously to the script, refusing to add any nuance or creativity to the project (this pettiness may have been the reason that one prominent actress of the 1930s referred to Seiter as the most unimaginative director she'd ever worked with). On his final four films, before he retired in 1954, Seiter functioned as both producer and director. These films included The Lady Wants Mink (1953), a gentle satire of the then topical "raise your own coat" craze. He died in Beverly Hills, California, of a heart attack, aged 74.

Sam Prim

Biography

At twenty years old, Sam Prim navigates through the world of cinema. Picking up any PA job he can get, consistently writing scripts, and taking every possible chance to make a film, Prim stands out from other student filmmakers. Not by a distinct look, not by a unique style, but solely by the work ethic and persistence to create believable narratives to be enjoyed and criticized by an audience. Starting by writing and shooting portraits, Sam Prim decided to combine the storytelling and visual elements once graduating high school in 2021. After high school, Prim attended Auburn University for 3 semesters. Within these three semesters and before getting past the basic classes, Sam experimented by creating narrative shorts that were posted on the social media platform known as Tiktok. Once receiving positive feedback, Sam turned the camera from a vertical perspective to a horizontal medium. Switching from Tiktok to Youtube allowed for him to learn cinema in a more traditional way. In 2022, Sam Prim wrote and directed many short films that are posted on his YouTube channel, UE Shorts, which is shared by a close friend and cinematographer Michael Baljet. This duo shot for a week in the hot summer of Dothan, Alabama for their longest film "Anomaly". This is the most popular short produced by the two and allowed them to reach a greater audience. Also in 2022, Sam Prim shot "Palette of Tears", which started as a school project, but quickly escalated to a much larger production. First premiering at Auburn's Indie Film Festival, the film is submitted to show at many more Southeastern Film Festivals. During a 48hr film challenge in Savannah Georgia, Sam joined multiple Auburn Alumni who brought home the gold. The crew won Best Picture alongside other awards for their film "Avenoir". The film went and showed at LA's Filmapalooza in 2023. The future is looking promising for Sam Prim and his hardworking film crew. Currently, the team is shooting for a new short, "Murmuration of Souls", which will be released in late 2023. Sam Prim, Michael Baljet, and close-friend Daniel Foster are relocating to the East Coast to attend Savannah's College of Art and Design. Jeffrey Osborne

Biography

Jeffrey Linton Osborne (born March 9, 1948) is an American singer-songwriter, musician and lyricist. He began his professional singing career in 1969 with a popular funk and soul group called Love Men Ltd. The band moved to Los Angeles in 1970 and changed its name to L.T.D. Osborne was originally brought on as the drummer and eventually became the lead vocalist. After more than ten years with the band, he decided to pursue a solo career, which produced such Top 40 hits as "Don't You Get So Mad," "Stay With Me Tonight," and "Love Power," which he performed with Dionne Warwick. Born in Providence, RI, Jeffrey Osborne was the youngest of 12 children and was constantly bombarded with music as he was growing up. He had five brothers and six sisters, some of whom went on to have music careers. His father, Clarence "Legs" Osborne, was a popular trumpeter who played with Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, and Duke Ellington, and died when Jeffrey was only 13. His mother, Wanita, is ancestored by a Pequot Indian sachem. His oldest brother, Clay Osborne, is a singer and pianist, and Billy, another brother, is a songwriter and producer in Los Angeles. But Osborne's father had the greatest influence on his musical career; Clarence "Legs" Osborne turned down many top band offers during his career to be with his family. It was only after receiving his mother's encouragement that Jeffrey left for Los Angeles to play with L.T.D. At the age of 15, he sat in with the O'Jays when the drummer was too tired to play, and went on to play with them for two weeks. It was at a Providence nightclub that fate brought him together with the band Love Men Ltd. in 1969. Osborne's solo career has brought him five gold and platinum albums, including Stay With Me Tonight, Aymuk, and Only Human. He also recorded an album of duets with popular singer James Ingram, and scored an international hit with "On the Wings of Love" in 1982. Osborne's touring and recording continue to keep him busy much of the time, but he also devotes some of his time to charity work.
