Xiang Yun

Biography

Chen Cuichang, better known by her stage name Xiang Yun, is a Singaporean actress & television host. She is commonly referred to as MediaCorp's first "Ah Jie" (Senior actress) for being among the first locally trained artistes and has been in the entertainment industry for more than 29 years. Chen is one of the first batch of graduates from SBC's drama training class. She began her career in children's drama in 1980 and proceeded to act in the drama series Double Blessings and All That Glitters Is Not Gold in 1983. It was her role as "Ah Mei", love interest of Huang Wenyong's character "Ah Shui", in the 1984 blockbuster drama series The Awakening that propelled her to fame, evidenced by the fact that she and Huang were named among the "Top 5 Favourite On-Screen Partners" and "Top 5 Most Memorable Drama Characters" of the last 25 years at the Star Awards 2007 anniversary special. In 1997, she played Singaporean war heroine Elizabeth Choy in the war drama The Price of Peace. After the birth of her second child, she took a brief hiatus from acting.[4] She returned to television in 2000 and has since been cast in major roles in many of MediaCorp's large-scale productions, such as Double Happiness, Portrait of Home, The Little Nyonya and Kinship. Despite competition from younger actresses, Chen's popularity remained high as she was voted the "Top 10 Most Popular Artistes" in the annual Star Awards from 2000 to 2010 and was awarded the coveted "All-Time Favourite Artiste Award".[5] She has also won the "Best Supporting Actress" award for a record 4 times, in years 1998, 2000, 2001 and 2009. In 2011, she received the All-Time Favourite Artiste award after winning the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes award from 2000-2010 respectively.

Marie-Anne Chazel

Marie-Anne France Jacqueline Chazel (born 19 September 1951) is a French actress, screenwriter and director, who has been active in both film and television since 1974. Chazel was born to actress Louba Guertchikoff (birth name Louba Louise Pinon; 1919–1999) in Gap, Hautes-Alpes, France. From 1967, Chazel studied at Pasteur College, alongside Michel Blanc, Gerard Jugnot, Thierry Lhermitte and Christian Clavier. After the achievement of her baccalaureate and two years of studies of political sciences, she and her college comrades formed a theatrical troop in 1974 named Le Splendid, joined by Josiane Balasko. Chazel achieved popularity as Gigi in Les Bronzés (1978) directed by Patrice Leconte. She is best known for her role as Ginette in Les Visiteurs (1993). From 1976 to 2001, Chazel was married to actor Christian Clavier. They have one child, a daughter Margot Clavier (b. 1983). Born and raised in Montebello, California, actress Chelsea Rendon has been a working actress since the age of 7, after booking a leading role in the feature film "No Turning Back", which went onto win multiple awards for her portrayal of Cristina. Michael Quentin Schmidt (born April 20, 1953) is an American film and television actor and art model. Schmidt has worked as a model since the late 1990s, posing for art classes and for live art installations. He was used as the body model to create the animated mountain troll for the 2001 film Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Michael appeared as a live model for "Lets Paint TV." He has appeared in a variety cartoon network and adult swim television shows such as "Tom Goes to the Mayor", "Tim and Eric, Awesome Show Great Job!", and "I Love David". Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer. He won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. On October 31, 2020, Connery died at the age of 90.

Zeffie Tilbury

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Zeffie Agnes Lydia Tilbury (November 20, 1863 – July 24, 1950) was an English actress. Tilbury was known first on the London stage and on Broadway in New York City. In 1881, she debuted on stage in Nine Points of the Law at the Theatre Royal, Brighton, England. She is today best known for playing wise or evil older characters in films, such as the distinguished lady gambler at dinner with Garbo in The Single Standard, as the pitiful Grandma Joad in The Grapes of Wrath and Grandma Lester in Tobacco Road. She appeared in over 70 films. Her earliest surviving silent film is the Valentino / Nazimova 1921 production of Camille. Tilbury is probably best remembered as the old lady who is befriended by Spanky and his friends on her birthday and, as a result, is transformed from a lonely, disagreeable recluse to a happy and loving carefree soul in the 1936 Hal Roach Our Gang comedy Second Childhood. In the same year she also portrayed the Gypsy Queen in the Laurel and Hardy film The Bohemian Girl. Tilbury was married twice. First to Arthur Frederick Lewis in June, 1887, and later to L. E. Woodthorpe, who died on April 8, 1915. She died in Los Angeles, California in 1950 at the age of 86.

Henri Vidal

Biography

Henri Vidal (26 November 1919 – 10 December 1959) was a French film actor. Henri Lucien Raymond Vidal was first noticed after he won the "Apollo of 1939" contest in Paris. He was spotted by Édith Piaf, and made his film debut alongside her in the movie Montmartre-sur-Seine in 1941. Vidal went on to appear in more than 30 films between 1941 and 1959. In addition to his wife, Michèle Morgan, he played opposite some of the biggest leading ladies in French films of the 1950s: Françoise Arnoul, Brigitte Bardot, Dany Carrel, Mylène Demongeot, Sophia Loren, Romy Schneider, and Marina Vlady. In May 1943 he married the actress Michèle Cordoba, and they divorced in July 1946. In 1950 he married French actress Michèle Morgan, whom he met while filming Alessandro Blasetti's 1949 film Fabiola. He died in 1959 of a heart attack.
