From 1994-96, she appeared on the American soap opera The Young and the Restless as Luan Volien. She directed the short film Requiem, which was based on her childhood in Hong Kong and her journey to New York City as a ballet student. Kool Moe Dee

Biography

Mohandas Dewese (born August 8, 1962), better known by his stage name Kool Moe Dee, is an American rapper, songwriter, actor and college graduate from SUNY Old Westbury with a BA in Communications. He is a Grammy-winning artist and two-time nominee. Considered one of the forerunners of the New Jack Swing sound in hip hop, he gained fame in the 1980s as a member of one of the pioneering groups in hip hop music, the Treacherous Three, and for his later solo career. During his career he released a total of seven studio albums (five of them solo), with 1994's Interlude being the last to date. His fast and aggressive rap style influenced following rap figures such as Big Daddy Kane, Beastie Boys, KRS-One, Rakim, Will Smith, N.W.A, Tupac Shakur, Nas, Jay-Z, among others. Among his most famous songs are "Go See the Doctor", "Wild Wild West" and "How Ya Like Me Now". Kool Moe Dee was ranked No. 33 on About.com's list of the 50 Greatest MCs of Our Time (1987–2007). Sean Connery

Biography

Sir Thomas Sean Connery (August 25, 1930 – October 31, 2020) was a Scottish actor and producer. He won an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (one being a BAFTA Academy Fellowship Award), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. Connery was the first actor to portray the character James Bond in film, starring in seven Bond films (every film from Dr. No to You Only Live Twice, plus Diamonds Are Forever and Never Say Never Again), between 1962 and 1983. In 1988, Connery won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in The Untouchables. His films also include Marnie (1964), Murder on the Orient Express (1974), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), A Bridge Too Far (1977), Highlander (1986), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Dragonheart (1996), The Rock (1996), and Finding Forrester (2000). Connery was polled in a 2004 The Sunday Herald as "The Greatest Living Scot" and in a 2011 EuroMillions survey as "Scotland's Greatest Living National Treasure". He was voted by People magazine as both the “Sexiest Man Alive" in 1989 and the "Sexiest Man of the Century” in 1999. He received a lifetime achievement award in the United States with a Kennedy Center Honor in 1999. Connery was knighted in the 2000 New Year Honours for services to film drama. On October 31, 2020, Connery died at the age of 90.

Janet McTeer

Biography

Janet McTeer OBE (born 5 August 1961) is an English actress. She began her career training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art before earning acclaim for playing diverse roles on stage and screen in both period pieces and modern dramas. She has received numerous accolades, including a Tony Award, an Olivier Award, a Golden Globe Award and nominations for two Academy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award. In 2008, she was appointed as an officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her services in drama. McTeer made her professional stage debut in 1984 and was nominated for the 1986 Olivier Award for Best Newcomer for The Grace of Mary Traverse. She received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress and the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her A Doll's House performance in 1997. For her roles on Broadway, she received two other nominations for Mary Stuart in 2009 and Bernhardt/Hamlet in 2019. McTeer has also gained acclaim for her film roles, having received two Academy Award nominations, one for Best Actress in Tumbleweeds in 1999 and the other for Best Supporting Actress in Albert Nobbs in 2011. Other roles include Wuthering Heights (1992), Carrington (1995), Velvet Goldmine (1998), Songcatcher (2000), As You Like It (2006), The Divergent Series (2015–2016), and The Menu (2022).  On television, she starred in the title role of Lynda La Plante's The Governor (1995–1996). She received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for portraying Clementine Churchill in the HBO film Into the Storm (2009). She is also known for her roles in Damages (2012), The White Queen (2013), The Honourable Woman (2014), Jessica Jones (2018), Sorry for Your Loss (2018–2019), and Ozark (2018–2020). Dennis Potter

Biography

Dennis Christopher George Potter (17 May 1935 – 7 June 1994) was an English television dramatist, screenwriter and journalist. He is best known for his BBC TV serials Pennies from Heaven (1978), The Singing Detective (1986), and the television plays Blue Remembered Hills (1979) and Brimstone and Treacle (1976). His television dramas mixed fantasy and reality, the personal and the social, and often used themes and images from popular culture. Potter is widely regarded as one of the most influential and innovative dramatists to have worked in British television. Born in Gloucestershire and graduating from Oxford University, Potter initially worked in journalism. After standing for parliament as a Labour candidate at the 1964 general election, his health was affected by the onset of psoriatic arthropathy which necessitated Potter changing careers and led to him becoming a television dramatist. His new career began with contributions to the BBC's Wednesday Play anthology series in 1965, and he continued to work in the medium for the rest of his life. He also wrote screenplay adaptations for the Hollywood studios. He died of pancreatic cancer in 1994.

Grayson Gilmour

Biography

Grayson Gilmour - solo artist, band member and film composer. Starting with solo CD-Rs at 16, to forming So So Modern at 20, and scoring his first feature film at 26, its been a steady evolution. His solo releases caught the welcoming ears of critics over the years, and eventually the attention of NZ’s iconic Flying Nun Records, who made him the first signing of their 2010 re-launch. Since composing for film, Grayson has received awards for ‘Best Score’ at the NZ Film Awards for The Most Fun You Can Have Dying, and ‘Best Original Music’ for Consent at the APRA Silver Scrolls. So So Modern, after seemingly endless tours around the globe, achieved an underground cult status for their unique electronic / post-punk sound, intense live shows, and ridiculous costumes. While undertaking his Masters in Composition at the NZSM, Gg’s 2014 solo release, Infinite Life! was nominated for ‘Best Alternative Album’ at the NZ Music Awards, and the critics choice Taite Music Prize. Having released his latest album Otherness to critical acclaim, Gg is currently lecturing at Massey University’s College of Creative Arts in between film scoring projects and rare live performances.

Jaroslav Satoranský

Biography

Původně se vyučil rytcem, ale zároveň začal hrát amatérsky divadlo, což jej následně přivedlo ke studiím na DAMU v Praze. Po absolutoriu oboru herectví (1961) nastoupil do Divadla J. Průchy v Kladně (1963-1966), odkud pak přešel do Vinohradského divadla v Praze (1966). V divadle dostal řadu příležitostí, především v klasickém repertoráru (Macbeth, Král Lear, Maryša, Strakonický dudák, Legenda o lásce).  Před filmovou kamerou se Satoranský objevil poprvé v dětské detektivce ZPÍVAJÍCÍ PUDŘENKA (1959), o něco větší roli pak dostal v rodinném psychologickém dramatu s propagandistickým podtextem OSENÍ (1960). Po několika dalších filmech pak dostal hlavní roli v hudební komedii BYLO NÁS DESET (1963); na hodnotách tohoto kdysi populárního filmu zapracoval neúprosný čas. V průběhu šedesátých let pak Satoranský hrál menší role v řadě dalších filmů, komediích i dramatech, například jen v roce 1967 hrál v pěti snímcích. Od konce 60. let se pak objevoval také v televizních seriálech, jedním z těch prvních byla ZÁHADA HLAVOLAMU (1969), následoval například F. L. VĚK (1971). Nadále točil také filmy, ale jedná se dnes již o zapomenuté snímky. Těžiště jeho práce spočívá především v televizi, která mu především velkými rolemi v seriálech NEJMLADŠÍ Z RODU HAMRŮ (1975) a INŽENÝRSKÁ ODYSEA (1979) přinesla obrovskou popularitu, byť diskutabilní vzhledem ke společenské angažovanosti těchto děl a také časově omezenou. Za roli Jana Hamra dostal v roce 1976 televizní cenu Zlatého krokodýla. Naopak nadčasovou hodnotu vytvořil Jaroslav Satoranský svou účastí v dodnes slavném večerníčku KRKONOŠSKÉ POHÁDKY (1974). Ve filmu se objevil naposledy jako policista v dětské detektivce TŘETÍ SKOBA PRO KOCOURA (1983), od té doby pracoval výhradně pro televizi. Hrál v seriálech, pohádkách a televizních inscenacích, za zmínku stojí historické příběhy PŘÍPAD AUFFENBERG (1993) nebo MISIE (1994), v nichž hrál hlavní role. V poslední době jsme Jaroslava Satoranského mohli vidět například v oblíbeném seriálu ČETNICKÉ HUMORESKY (1997).

Joanne Kelly is a Canadian actress, known for her appearances in films such as Going the Distance and in TV series such as Warehouse 13, in which she plays Secret Service agent Myka Bering.Joanne Kelly was born in Bay d'Espoir, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. She studied at Acadia University. Her first movie role was the 2002 drama film The Bay of Love and Sorrows. She played alongside actors such as Paul Gross in Slings and Arrows and Gordon Pinsent in Heyday. From 2003 to 2004 she played Libby on the J. Michael Straczynski series Jeremiah on Showtime. She also played the role of Sara Collins in Fox's Vanished and the vampire Bianca in SciFi's The Dresden Files. She also appeared in the film Going the Distance. Since 2009 she has played the role of Secret Service agent Myka Bering on the Syfy series Warehouse 13. She also stars in the independent film, "Cantuckee." Kelly was nominated in 2006 for a Gemini at the Gemini Awards/2006 Gemini Awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Dramatic Program or Mini-Series for Playing House (2006) (TV).

Yoko Shimada

Biography

Kumamoto City-born Shimada Yoko is best known in the west as Mariko from the 1980 mini-series Shogun. The lady-in-waiting role created an interest in Japan and its culture overseas and introduced Japanese history to foreign audiences. She won the Golden Globe For Best Performance by an Actress in a TV-Series - Drama category and was nominated for a Prime-time Emmy Award for her work on the serial in 1981. Shimada, who spoke some English for the serial, had been acting for years prior to Shogun however. She began learning ballet since age three and wanted to become a ballerina until her high high school days. Her family had moved to Tokyo when she was eight. She obtained an agent and began acting while in junior high school. The TV serial Zoku Hyouten made her famous beginning 1970. She released a nude photo book, called Kir Royal, in 1992. She was 39 and the photo book became a bestseller shifting half a million copies. At 57 she starred in an 'AV' pornography video called Mikkai in 2011. This was a tribute to her body even at that age. Shimada has a reservation for a space burial.
